"PLACE"

not quite an aesthetics page, not quite a shrine. a collection of things that give me a familiar sense of place.

will be updated sporadically with more text and images

macbeth and the witches by joseph anton koch

dark skies or a feeling of being enclosed on top are a common theme in the pictures i'm drawn to. the above painting (macbeth and the witches by joseph anton koch) is based on act I scene III of macbeth. in that scene, macbeth's line "so foul and fair a day i have not seen" refers to the sky being dark and overcast yet bright and sunny at the same time. other, higher contrast versions of this painting exist online that better show off the effect, but they all have obnoxious watermarks on them.
